Leading personalized experiences
at The New York Times

I manage a team of five designers working on personalized experiences, user journeys and key audience growth initiatives at the Times. One highlight of this past year: we launched and scaled the new “You” tab in the core news app, a hub of valuable utility features like saving, history and list building, alongside personalized discovery based on your interests. We connect readers to parts of the Times that we know they’ll love that aren’t easily discoverable to deepen their relationship & habit with us.

 
 

The ‘You’ tab

My team enhanced the ‘memory’ and tailoring of the NYT app through a new approach to personalization centered in the You tab. The tab learns more about you and becomes more valuable the more you engage with the Times, with no extra work required to power it.

 

A new approach to Onboarding

My team overhauled the onboarding experience at the Times to focus on engagement across our bundle of products and help you understand all the Times has to offer.

 

Extreme Weather Email Alerts

I worked with a designer on creating a new service for New York Times readers that informs you of weather events in places you care about, a launchpad for our location-based personalization experiences. Won a Publisher’s award for its innovation in service journalism.
